Specialization makes us Wealthier than the Kings and Emperors of Antiquity

“Maybe you would benefit to learn about how to grow your own food rather than being grateful you don’t have to think about it.”

One of the miracles of the modern economy is that of specialization. One is able to focus on working and producing in the field one is most competent. When millions of people are able to freely choose which field to specialize in, the result is the creation of wealth of monumental proportions. The result of the vast reduction of poverty and the stratospherical rise in standards of living as goods and services become cheap and affordable. Competition pushes down price and elevates quality. The primary benefactor of this magnificent phenomenon is the poor and destitute.

It is a blessing that we don’t have to grow our own food, sew our own clothes, chop wood to heat our own homes, and construct our own homes. Rather we are now able to work in a field of our choosing and with the value we earn, AKA currency, purchase the goods/services that are the expertise of others. This is a system that has produced a civilization that towers above all others of wealth, comfort, and leisure.

The beautiful and ironic thing is we now have so much leisure that we can afford to spend time criticizing the very system that has gifted us all of these miracles. We can choose to grow food because it teaches kids valuable skills about farming and where food comes from, rather than being forced to do so lest we starve. We can choose to sew our own clothes because it teaches kids valuable lessons about appreciating clothing and learning to mend torn clothing to save currency, rather than being forced to do so lest we go naked. We can choose to chop wood to supplement standard indoor heating and enjoy the therapeutic benefits of exercise, rather than being forced to do so lest we freeze. We can learn how to make additions on our homes because it saves currency and teaches kids about being a handyman, rather than being forced to do so lest we lack a shelter.

We have the choice to be self sufficient rather than being compelled to do so in order to survive. That is the miracle of the modern industrialized economy. The comfort and wealth we daily enjoy and take for granted would make the kings and emperors of antiquity green with envy.

Government Schooling Robs Children of their Potential for Success

More kids commit suicide during school hours than other times of the day. Government schools forcibly separate kids from their parents and put them into detention centers. Forced association is not socialization. Kids are robbed of their precious free time to pursue and study what they are actually interested in.

Homeschooled kids talk to anybody as equals, adults and children alike. Kids who got to government schools learn that adults are the authority figures. Kids learn that if they have problems they must always go to an adult to solve rather than attempt to solve it themselves. They learn dependency, subservience, and obedience rather than independence and problem solving skills.

Life in Order to Thrive Must Terraform its Environment

Life in order to flourish must change and transform its environment. This is necessary and inevitable for life to prosper. The green Eco movement is the assertion that man destroys the perfect planet Eden in his conquest for dominance. It is a thoroughly anti-human flourishing perspective.

In order for man to survive and thrive as he has done he had to gather natural resources and transform them into useful and productive goods that improve the lives of countless human beings. This has allowed us to flourish in the billions.

There is no way for life to thrive without changing and terraforming the environment around it to make it more hospitable and habitable for life. Life is synonymous with change as is the state of the Earth itself. Change is the one constant we must all contend with.

Profound Gratitude is Necessary for the Miracle of Modern Comforts

A proper gratitude is requisite for the magnificent achievements that have made our modern lives comfortable. Basic modern comforts that even those considered “poor” among us enjoy such as cheap clothes, shoes, decent insulated housing, indoor plumbing, refrigeration, air conditioning, and heating would undeniably be the envy of kings, pharaohs, and emperors of antiquity.

The advocation that we should not enjoy these and that we should instead seek a primitive and non-impact life is a thoroughly anti-human and anti-life perspective. It is a repudiation of the inconceivable toil and hardship that our ancestors have endured to make our modern comforts possible. It is an insult to their suffering. Let us pay homage to their adversity by striving to continue the miraculous progress for future human beings to enjoy. That human beings live at all is a miracle in itself. Don’t forget to pay it forward.
