Love Cannot be Logically Deduced

It is common practice for many Anarchists and Voluntaryists to incessantly bash feelings and belittle their importance. Is there a place for feelings in the human condition? To be entirely dominated by feeling and emotion is to become a wildly hedonistic savage beast. To become entirely dominated by logic and reason is to become a soulless calculating machine, a Spock. There must be a balance. Love, passion, beauty, wonder, and splendor are recognized and appreciated in the presence of feelings. These things cannot be logically deduced.

 

There is no mathematical formula to infer why I love my wife. There is no way to graph with an X and Y-axis, why nature is magnificent. Some things do not appeal to logic for explanation. Some things have no rational explanation. There is beauty in the inexplicable. It is entirely conceivable to live a fruitful life and be ignorant of many things. The caveat is to recognize one’s nescience but to simultaneously strive to conquer it, knowing full well that there is always something new to learn. We must recognize that everyone has something to teach us, if we are receptive to the lesson. When the childlike enchantment with the unknown vanishes, life descends into darkness. Life is a journey of discovery and self-actualization. Laugh until you cry! Sing until you are hoarse! Play until you are exhausted! You have life but for a moment. Do not squander it, for it is a privilege afforded to few.

 

We are here to unlearn the teachings of the church, state, and our educational system. We are here to drink beer. We are here to kill war. We are here to laugh at the odds and live our lives so well that Death will tremble to take us.

Respect The Choices Of Peaceful People

It is quite easy to understand the reason for our own choices and preferences. It is far more difficult to empathize with another to discover and understand the reason for their choices and preferences. If we desire absolute freedom to live as we so wish without interference, we must desire absolute freedom for our brothers and sisters all over the world.

 

Peaceful people engage in decision making everyday based on complex criteria that only they can apprehend. We may have our provincial ideas about how others should live, but to endeavor to coercively impose our views onto them individually or via the guns of the State would be the very definition of slavery. That would make us the masters and them the slaves.

 

Most people are struggling in their own lives to discover how to live and what are the best choices to make. If we cannot know the optimal manner in which to live, to expect others to bend to our will about what is best for them would be the height of hubristic folly. The only logically consistent choice is absolute freedom for all without exception provided nobody is being aggressed upon. This is the essence of Free Market Capitalism and Voluntaryism.

In this 2nd episode of the Philosophy of Voluntaryism we discuss the importance of peace.

-Peace is not the goal; it is the means

-Do people know beyond sentiment what they are seeking in life, in terms of freedom?

-How the world was built by peaceful interactions spackled with violent moments.

-Nescience is not limited to ‘statists’ alone; liberty advocates still have so much to learn.

-Government exists to provide peace and security, but its means do not line up with its goal.

-Dumping knowledge to convert people is just another tactic equivalent to point a gun or threatening eternal damnation, but with the focus of immediate intellectual intimidation to cow.

 

Peace is a popularly invoked concept. It is discussed or raised from everyone to beauty pageant contestants to United Nations speakers and the war torn lands of Somalia to the creators of youtube content. Peace is important, but what is it?

 

There is more to peace than it being the end game. Peace is a means to an infinite number of ends. Peace is the multipurpose tool for the cognitively advanced mind which understands why it places value upon itself and why others place value upon themselves. Peace is the amplifier of positivity, productivity, and creativity.

 

Where the old adage of ‘Necessity is the Mother of all Invention,’ is commonly known, Peace is the platform from which she creates everything to perfection and beyond. Think of peace as if it were the work shop for all your wood crafting needs. Inside there are people with all kinds of skill sets ranging from medical care to artisan wood craftsman to an executive producer for million dollar movie making.

 

All of these people are there to help you make possible anything from a simple pine birdhouse to a fully transformable oak bench into a full picnic table with cup holders. Everyone gains by respecting the value one places upon themselves and has the potential to add to whatever wood working project you desire to create. But without that respect of value, without that peace, none of it will be possible.

Cultivate Your Garden

Many people see injustice in the world and vigorously seek to remedy it. They travel to far away distant lands to right some of the myriad wrongs daily committed. While this is certainly commendable, I believe there is a far better way to improve the world. It is far easier to direct, command, and micro-manage other people. It is far easier to tell them how they should live their lives according to our provincial understanding of their experience. It is far more difficult to recognize the faults and imperfections in one’s own character and strive to remedy that. If you truly want to improve the world, present it with one thoroughly improved unit, yourself. Do not ask that others emulate your life, rather endeavor to live a life worthy of emulation. People recognize value when they see it.

 

Life is bristling with thorns, and I know no other remedy than to cultivate one’s garden.

The crowning achievement of civilization is the power of human mind. It is the greatest tool and natural resource available to us. It is what transforms every other natural resource available to us. It is what has lifted us out of the Dark Age of fear, abject poverty, shortened life spans, and high infant mortality. Through the cumulative ingenuity of countless intrepid entrepreneurs and inventors, Free Market Capitalism has provided an abundance of wealth that has catapulted our comfort and standard of living into the stratosphere. Our lives are no longer threatened by trivial infections or the natural world.

 

The only remaining threat to our existence is our own rigid authoritarian dogma. We are held back by those individuals who obstinately to cling to barbaric notions of domination and violence. The power hungry control freaks clamor incessantly about the need to be afraid of your neighbor, this religion, or that group. They declaim that the only panacea is to give them more currency and more power over your life. They are the horse and buggy carriage that vainly endeavors to rationalize its existence in a world of spacecrafts and Maglev trains. Its irrelevancy is becoming more apparent with each glorious innovation. In a world of bustling productivity, it is not necessary to fight evil with violence. Simply strip it of its power by inundating it with a tsunami of innovation. It will be unable to stand its ground and will be forced to retreat back into the abyss from whence it emerged, utterly defeated without a shot fired.
