The Philosophy of Voluntaryism Ep 6: Is There A Role For Emotions In Voluntaryism?

Is there a role for emotions in The Philosophy of Voluntaryism?!

In our sixth episode of The Philosophy of Voluntaryism we discuss a point of much contention between the rigid and dangerously sharp edges of logic and the soft and often erratic nature of emotions.

-How does our previous topic of NVC relate to the emotional and logic needs of the Philosophy of Voluntaryism?

-If we don’t shun logic, then why should we shun emotions?

-Just as we should acknowledge and understand bad logic, we should acknowledge and understand negative emotions.

Emotions play a critical role in understanding how to understand Voluntaryism. It is why Voluntaryism is the evolution of simple anarchism. It is anarchism evolved through the understanding and use of empathy.

Statism Is A Relic Of A Barbaric Epoch

The urge to be accepted by the tribe and to conform to societal norms is powerful. It is this ancient characteristic that has kept humanity alive throughout our most dangerous and treacherous prehistoric past. At those times conforming to the tribe was a matter of life or death as very few people could survive on their own. All this has changed with technological development and the Industrial Age. We are now no longer so weak and dependent on each other. We can work to earn money to purchase the labor of other skilled artisans. We do not have to be 100% self-sufficient. Indeed this is one reason that humanity has been able to lift itself out of poverty.

Finding Your Tribe Of Confidantes

two-people-shake-hands-each-with-different-puzzle-piece-collaboration-and-cooperation-can-achieve-much-division-of-labor-specialization

It is not about how many friends you have. It is about the meaning and depth of those friendships. A small handful of genuinely caring friends who would come to your aid in your time of need is more valuable than the most precious rubies and gems. No man is an island unto himself. We humans are social creatures. We strive for connection and companionship above all else. What better way to express this brotherly love than to trade with our fellow men and women?

We thrive on improving each other’s lives through specialization and the division of labor. The Free Market is the fullest expression of love for our fellow brethren. When you love your neighbor you do not seek to rob him through taxation, strangle his business through onerous regulations, or encumber his freedom through a myriad of burdening arbitrary man made laws. Desiring absolute freedom for oneself must necessarily entail desiring absolute freedom for one’s neighbor. Moral reciprocity and a deep respect for the life of another is the foundation of virtue and integrity. I hope you all find your tribe of deeply caring confidantes. It makes this dance of life all the more pleasurable.
