Peaceful Parenting: Trust, Lying, and Stealing

How is a peaceful parent to deal with a child who lies and steals? The main issue is about trust between a parent and child. Without trust there is nothing. Trust is the concrete foundation that forms the basis for any successful relationship.

The child must also understand the social consequences of lying and stealing.. Lying is a matter of keeping your word and abiding by a contract, be it written or unwritten. Stealing violates the self ownership and property rights of others. The importance of profoundly understanding both must be made abundantly clear.

Hold Your Principles Dear

What does it mean to be open-minded? Are all philosophies equally valid? Adolf Hitler, Joseph Stalin, and Mao Zedong all had philosophies but millions of people died as a result. I would assert that some philosophies are demonstrably false and others outright destructive. The validity of morality and economics, like mathematics, is determined by the application of basic principles. These are the tools one must use to make sense of a world of conflicting ideologies. Principles must be universalizable, reproducible, and logical for them to be valid. They are not contingent upon feelings, emotions, the weather, religion, age, place of birth, ethnicity, or socioeconomic status. This would place them in the category of beliefs.

Most action originates from thought. All the wealth that has been created was first the incorporeal contemplation of an intrepid individual who dared to imagine a better world. It takes supreme courage to proclaim, “I want to improve the world for my brothers and sisters by serving them!” The power of ideas can never be underestimated. It is only by the steady refinement of our intellect that civilization has been conceivable. Celebrate the principles and ideas that have made progress possible, nay inevitable!

If you do not stand for something, you will fall for anything.

Malcolm X

Do not be so open-minded that your brains fall out.

G.K. Chesterton

Philosophy of Voluntaryism Ep 2: The Importance of Peace

In this 2nd episode of the Philosophy of Voluntaryism we discuss the importance of peace.

-Peace is not the goal; it is the means

-Do people know beyond sentiment what they are seeking in life, in terms of freedom?

-How the world was built by peaceful interactions spackled with violent moments.

-Nescience is not limited to ‘statists’ alone; liberty advocates still have so much to learn.

-Government exists to provide peace and security, but its means do not line up with its goal.

-Dumping knowledge to convert people is just another tactic equivalent to point a gun or threatening eternal damnation, but with the focus of immediate intellectual intimidation to cow.

Peace is a popularly invoked concept. It is discussed or raised from everyone to beauty pageant contestants to United Nations speakers and the war torn lands of Somalia to the creators of youtube content. Peace is important, but what is it?

There is more to peace than it being the end game. Peace is a means to an infinite number of ends. Peace is the multipurpose tool for the cognitively advanced mind which understands why it places value upon itself and why others place value upon themselves. Peace is the amplifier of positivity, productivity, and creativity.

Where the old adage of ‘Necessity is the Mother of all Invention,’ is commonly known, Peace is the platform from which she creates everything to perfection and beyond. Think of peace as if it were the work shop for all your wood crafting needs. Inside there are people with all kinds of skill sets ranging from medical care to artisan wood craftsman to an executive producer for million dollar movie making.

All of these people are there to help you make possible anything from a simple pine birdhouse to a fully transformable oak bench into a full picnic table with cup holders. Everyone gains by respecting the value one places upon themselves and has the potential to add to whatever wood working project you desire to create. But without that respect of value, without that peace, none of it will be possible.

Valid Laws Are Universalizable And Immutable – MP3

Only The Laws Of The Spirit Remain Always The Same, Native American Proverb

The laws of morality are just as timeless and immutable as the laws of physics, chemistry, and mathematics. They are universalizable and non-discriminatory. They are discovered, not created. They apply to all without recognition of race, gender, creed, ethnicity, religion, or socioeconomic status. They do not require reams of pages of the federal registry to outline, the extent of which nobody has the faintest idea, least of all the legislators. The laws of morality have been described as Common Law, Natural Law, or the Golden Rule. They are something most parents endeavor to teach their children. Don’t hit and don’t take other people’s stuff. This is a very concise summary of recognition of self-ownership, property rights, and non-aggression. A law degree is not needed to understand basic rules of morality.

Small children understand these mores, the confusion arises when Statism and the belief in authority is introduced and taints the mind. They are taught when there appears to be a contradictory message, always defer to authority for the answer. Discouragement of independent critical analysis becomes commonplace. Deductive reasoning is replaced with unwavering obedience. This is the source of the greatest atrocities we were all taught to fear. Without the mass of lickspittles and sycophants, the ruler has no power with which to carry out his maniacal whims. It is not the sociopathic ruler that must be feared, but rather the legion of obedient order followers. The well-intentioned citizens who pay their taxes and quietly submit to the State have enabled the greatest crimes against humanity. When obeying man made law would have one become an agent of injustice, one is compelled to break the law. Historically it has been the lawbreakers that displayed the greatest moral rectitude, civility, and compassion. It is far more important to develop an internal conscience and moral compass than it is to prostrate oneself before the law. We were all bestowed with free will and human cognition developed over eons. Use them!

Civil disobedience is not our problem. Our problem is civil obedience. Our problem is that people all over the world have obeyed the dictates of leader and millions have been killed because of this obedience.

Howard Zinn
