Non-Aggression Parenting Podcast Ep 1: Introduction and Haircut Stories

The core idea behind this program is to explore the crazy idea of treating our children like human beings instead of obedient property. To understand this concept it is our goal to help shed light on how to the importance of teaching kids how to reason, peaceful parenting, attachment parenting, through the ideas of self ownership and nonaggression!

In this pilot episode we introduce ourselves, explain where we are coming from, and help guide you through the rabbit hole of wonder that is often fundamentally different from the idea of teaching authority and obedience but with the same goal of preparing our children to be more than order takers and order followers.

What makes the ‘revolutionary’ concepts of self-ownership, property rights, and nonaggression so important to teach our children? How could these ideas help you and your children?

How much of a difference will explaining the purpose of acting a specific way will make when talking to children? Employing reasoning with children, even if they are not quite able to understand everything all at once or even in the same day will help develop their cognitive abilities.

Telling your children ‘because I said so’ is like a precursor to hearing ‘obey because it’s the law’ when they are an adult. Context and clarity in communication and action is important to the development of critical thinking skills. These skills can be learned through as simple a task of self-responsibility as cutting one’s hair.

An underlying goal is to ensure that our children are prepared to step foot into a world where freedom of choice is the status quo, not freedom of pre-selection. Respecting the child in the moment will help them in the future by giving them the experience to understand the difference between demanded respect with undertones of coercion and voluntary respect to create trust, loyalty, and positive reputations.

Topics discussed: background, Stefan Molyneux, The Facts About Spanking, authoritarian parenting is exhausting, comfort with knives and fire, treating kids with respect, belief in authority, apologize to your kids if you have wronged them, child haircut stories, respect self ownership, understanding the consequences of decisions, not having all the answers, teaching independent thinking, ear piercing infants, circumcision, blaming one’s parents for their mistakes, rise of the digital age, 50 Real Differences Between Men and Women, college/university irrelevancy, Joel Salatin from Polyface Farm and more!

Embody Peaceful Anarchism

Rebellion it's Not What You Think Bitcoin, Peaceful Parenting, Barter, and Agorism

“I am trying to figure out what Peaceful Anarchism would LOOK like here in the usa…. We have had a business since 1976…. But if we were young again… how would a family DO That?… Perhaps.. live off grid? Homebirth so no record of birth certificate?… if they get a birth certificate in a hospital birth … it would be hard to NOT get an S.S.# I would have to be an UNassisted homebirth because credentialed midwives report the birth. If you can avoid S.S.# barter and trade skills with others living off grid & under the radar? You would have to make money or bitcoin under the radar, right? So no taxable income? But what does Peaceful anarchy LIVING look like IN REAL LIFE? Maybe we can do it when my husband retires? Withdraw all savings, cash in all annuities take all retirement funds and just put that all under a mattress?”

I do not think it is necessary to live off grid and be entirely self-sufficient. Complete self-sufficiency, although it may be a worthy goal, is not entirely realistic. We all depend on each other for many things we cannot produce. That is not a bad thing. It just means that as civilization grows and becomes wealthier, more people can specialize and make money in their specialty. When that happens everyone benefits.

Agorism or counter economics is a worthy path as well. Raise your kids outside of the State. Conduct your business outside of the State. Transact outside of the State. Live your life outside of the State. Get your wealth out of fiat currency to the best of your ability. Invest in precious metals, such as physical gold and silver. Invest in crypto-currencies such as Bitcoin. Get to know and befriend your local farmers and small businesses. In this way we can starve the beast of our currency, attention, and participation. This is a thoroughly effective non-violent strategy to cripple and render impotent the power of the State. The stronger we can build and maintain community bonds, the weaker and more obsolete the State becomes. It only grows in size and power when there is division, infighting, bickering, and malcontent. In loving our neighbor to the fullest we can build a future based on purely voluntary interaction and respect for property.

It is never too late to attempt to live as an Anarchist or Voluntaryist. One need not wait until a truly voluntary society is realized. One can embody Peaceful Anarchism right now. Do not acknowledge the State, to the best of your ability. Live your life with gentleness, kindness, compassion, and love. Live your life according to your principles. Treat others with respect regardless of race, gender, creed, religious belief, ethnicity, or socioeconomic background. Perform random acts of kindness wherever you can, whenever you can. Be generous with loving and appreciative words. Do not self-censor or hesitate in expressing your compassion. The future is not guaranteed or secured to anyone. The present is a gift. Appreciate life while you have it. It is a privilege afforded to few.

Being a Voluntaryist is not about exiting society or withdrawing from friends and family. It is about being very much a part of it. One of the greatest non sequitur fallacies is that society or civilization will collapse if not for the omniscience of the State. A proper perspective must be cultivated between the parasitic class and the industrious. It is the parasites that fundamentally depend on the industrious for their very existence. Through siphoning off small portions of the productivity of the industrious, the parasites grow fat and decadent. The beginning of wisdom is to call things by their proper names.

You can chain me, you can torture me, you can even destroy this body, but you will never imprison my mind.

Obedience Is The Enemy Of Morality

raise-your-kids-to-make-good-decisions-if-you-raise-them-to-obey-they-will-look-for-someone-to-obey-when-you-are-not-around

It is very difficult to judge law enforcement officers and soldiers on the basis of their individual actions because they pride themselves on not acting as individuals, but rather as being the physical manifestations of the State. Nevertheless we must make the effort.

An order is just spoken words or ink on paper. It is the order followers who bring those orders into the real world where they have real consequences. At every point of the chain of obedience there is always a choice to continue obeying. Therefore every order follower must always assume personal responsibility for each and every action committed by their hands. There is no shirking responsibility. To attempt to do so is to pretend one is a soulless machine rather than a thinking sentient human being.

The beginning of wisdom is to be fully accountable for one’s actions no matter how egregious. Self-ownership involves claiming ownership of one’s physical body, the fruits of one’s labor, as well as the direct consequences of one’s actions. When every human being assumes this there will be no cowardly blaming of one’s superiors, the law, politicians, or one’s job. There will be no shameful diffusion of responsibility. The phrases “I’m just doing my job” or “I didn’t write the laws I just enforce them” denote a special degree of mind body separation that would make any spiritual adept green with envy. They are only used when justifying truly horrifying actions.

Teach your children what is right and wrong. Teach your children what is morality and to think for themselves. If you succeed in doing this you will not have to fear that they will rationalize future atrocities with such contemptible phrases. A child who internalizes a moral compass will not, as an adult, be swayed by the tempting allure of poisonous sophistry nor the forked tongue of political predators. The child is the father of the man. Raise your children in the manner you wish to see the world of tomorrow. Your words become their reality. Choose your words with great care.
